Textual Alcove

Nearly a year and a half…

has passed since I last posted in this blog. Things have changed for the better. I moved out of my old apartment in Corona, NY about a month ago to Long Island, NY. I’ve had a lot of ups and downs while living there and had to correct some really bad habits (overeating). I’ve been taking blood pressure medication for over a year and now after not adding salt to my food for a month, my blood pressure is normal and not elevated. I eat some raw foods, but I’m not 100% raw…but I’m working my way up to 100%.

I drink smoothies 3-4 times a week and I’m more active than I was when I lived in NYC. I’ve been reading The Secret and Think and Grow Rich. My mindset isn’t negative anymore. I am not even nearly as depressed as I used to be. I have a more positive outlook on life. I’m even considering going back to school to pursue a career in information technology! I’ve been looking into a few schools and will post my decision here on my blog.

One of my favorite websites is Joe Vitale’s Mr. Fire website. It has a ton of valuable information that shouldn’t be passed by. I even downloaded his book “Attract Money Now” and it’s now one of my favorite books.

2013…a new start

Here on the East Coast, 2012 will soon come to an close and we’ll be in a new year. I’ve made many mistakes in 2012 and learned from them.

In August 2012, I moved out of my mother’s apartment and into an apartment with two roommates.

I look forward to 2013 because it represents a fresh new start for me. January 7th is when I start my weight loss plan. I have 142 lbs to lose and I know I can achieve this goal.

I learned my mistakes in 2012. In 2013, I won’t repeat those same mistakes.

Traveling in NYC After Hurricane Sandy

I had to go to Downtown Brooklyn to Duane Reade’s pharmacy to pick up my psychiatric meds (I have a mental illness). It was easier traveling by bus. The trains still aren’t running right and on Monday (Nov 5th) when I go to mymental health day treatment program, I’m definitely not taking a train or shuttle bus.

When I was in Downtown Brooklyn, I saw people waiting for shuttle buses. I took one look and said to myself, “I’m not going to wait for a shuttle bus with all those people.”

I had to take the Q58 from Horace Harding Expressway and Waldron Street to Ridgewood Terminal, then transfer to the B52 heading towards Downtown Brooklyn.

Coming back home, I took the B26 back to Ridgewood Terminal instead of the B52. I got home to Corona, Queens after 2pm.

I’ll be glad when the trains return to their normal schedule. I miss traveling to Downtown Brooklyn by train.

R.I.P. Whitney Houston

Whitney will definitely be missed. I became a fan of hers in the early 90’s, when I was a kid. Her singing voice was amazing and I enjoy listening to her songs. Here are a few of my favorite Whitney Houston videos:

I Love Oil Pulling!

I started oil pulling again 42 days ago and my mouth feels much healthier! My gums are pink again and my teeth are whiter. I’m sleeping well and not waking up multiples times during the night.

I first started oil pulling with olive oil. I’ve tried pulling with vegetable oil and I’m now pulling with Trader Joe’s Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (which costs $5.99 for a 16 ounce bottle).

I oil pull once a day, sometimes twice a day. I usually pull in the evening, a few hours before I go to bed.
